The Cygnet Circuit

What a fabulous day for a drive!

Our first stop - Huonville.  Lonely Planet described it as "low on charm, but full of the services you need...."  But I must disagree, whilst the main street was similar to any other average town, the surroundings were just beautiful.  It was a small taste to what we could expect on the rest of the drive.  Beautiful scenery,  amazing views and very plump sheep!

Our next stop was Cygnet.  A quaint little village that was originally named:
Port de Cygne Noir - Port of the black swan.  Although we didn't see one swan.  I think they've all flown north to Lakes Entrance.

To yet again quote Lonely Planet "the town has evolved into a dreadlocked, artsy enclave...".    Everyone in Cygnet was very friendly and we did spot one lady with oddly braided hair and no shoes crossing the street...... it takes all types.  There were some very gorgeous little shops......

Some beautiful old buildings.........

And the most amazing cafe - The Red Velvet Lounge.  It was busy busy busy because of Mother's Day, but they found us a great spot on a couple of old leather lounges where we could peruse all the funky knik knacks, bric-a-brac and paraphernalia.

They also made us have this slab of chocolate mousse cake with ice-cream.

And I washed it down with a lovely cup of tea...... check out this miniature bottle of milk!

A woman at the funky little shop in Cygnet mentioned to us that there was a great little cafe a little bit further along our planned route, so on our way to have a look at it, we can across Grandvewe Cheeses - see what they did there?

The sheep here on this farm had the best view of Peppermint Bay.  We purchased ourselves a little blue cheese, a pinot noir paste and a lovely bottle of Tasmania's finest Pinot noir and headed on our way.

But not before commending the people of Grandvewe on their stella sense of humour!
